Putting the AI in FAIR Data

Title: «Putting the AI in FAIR Data» Referent: Daniel Kuhn, Merck, Millipore SAS, 1 rue Jacques Monod, Rond Point des Sangliers, 78280 Guyancourt, France

Laboratories today generate more information than ever before—a boon for the big data era of science. Nearly all instruments, from gas chromatographs to bioreactors, output information digitally, giving researchers the opportunity to quickly analyze and interpret their results.
However, this explosive growth of digital data has been accompanied by an equal proliferation of data silos. Not only are most lab instruments and leading LIMS, ELN and ERP systems not designed to communicate with one another, but proprietary constraints are restricting scientists from effectively accessing and sharing their data across measurement techniques and with partner organizations.
In this talk, Merck will explore the current landscape of scientific data management, and discuss how data standardization and the FAIR principles of findability, accessibility, interoperability, and reusability are essential for tapping into innovations like artificial intelligence and advanced analytics in pharma. We will also introduce vendor-neutral solutions designed to overcome data barriers and accelerate process efficiencies and digitalization in the modern connected lab.
