BASLEARN – The Berlin based Joint Lab for Machine Learning

BASLEARN, is to develop workable new mathematical models and algorithms for fundamental questions related to the chemical industry segment. Such questions can unfold to wide variety of areas such as process engineering, material sciences or quantum chemistry.

On August 2019 BASF and Technische Universität Berlin (TU Berlin) signed an agreement to cooperate closely in the area of machine learning. The aim of the collaboration, Berlin-based Joint Lab for Machine Learning – BASLEARN, is to develop workable new mathematical models and algorithms for fundamental questions related to the chemical industry segment. Such questions can unfold to wide variety of areas such as process engineering, material sciences or quantum chemistry. Both partners are jointly committed to this aim in the coming years. As essential part of the cooperation, BASF supports the research work of Prof. Dr. Klaus Robert Müller, professor for machine learning and director of the “Berlin Institute for the Foundations of Learning and Data - BIFOLD” at the TU Berlin.
In this presentation we show further details of our collaborations and some achievements ever since our start.
