Design of Experiments (DoE): Good bye OFAT

Design of Experiments (DoE) is known to be superior to the widely used method “One-Factor-at-A-Time”. Why it is so, is explained here in a comprehensible way.

When optimizing processes, products or formulations, the execution of experiments is indispensable. The objective is to find out which values of the often many existing parameters are optimal.

Depending on how one proceeds, this optimization, respectively the knowledge acquisition out of the experiments will be more or less effective. In other words: require more or less effort. No industry can nowadays afford to waste time and to find only suboptimal parameter settings. The solution is called “Design of Experiments”.
