ILMAC: important specialist fair for the pharmaceutical, chemical and biotechnology sectors in Basel
Published on 9/23/2013 by
ILMAC is being staged in Basel, the European capital of the pharmaceutical and chemical industry, for the 19th time. What started out in 1959 as the "International Chemical Exhibition for Laboratory Techniques and Chemical Engineering, Measurement Technology and Automation" has changed with the industry over time and undergone further development. From 24 to 27 September 2013, ILMAC is being held in the new hall complex at Messe Basel and, with 442 exhibitors from 14 countries, is reinforcing its importance as Switzerland's biggest technology fair for laboratory technology, the process industry and the life sciences. On the joint "Contamination Control" stand, organised in cooperation with Swiss CSS (the Swiss Contamination Control Society) the spotlight is on cleanrooms. And the Swiss Packaging Institute, SVI, has taken on the patronage of the "Pharma Packaging Village", underlining the importance of the new specialist sector of pharmaceuticals packaging at ILMAC.
Knowledge transfer over lunch
ILMAC Lunch & Learn is the name that has been given to two events that are being staged in the ILMAC Forum at lunch time. These mark a combination of top-class speakers, a discussion of topical issues in the sector and a fortifying lunch. On Wednesday, 25 September 2013, the key topic of "Secure pharmaceuticals packaging: Action against counterfeited drugs" is on the agenda. On Thursday, 26 September 2013, the topic is "Safety in the food industry: Hygienic design".
13 chemical projects from Swiss Universities of Applied Sciences receiving awards
In cooperation with three Universities of Applied Sciences (HES-SO, FHNW and ZHAW) the Swiss Chemical Society will be presenting the SCG FH Awards for the first time and thus honouring exceptional performance in the field of cooperation between the Universities of Applied Sciences and industry. The three winners of the individual categories will be presenting their projects in the ILMAC Forum in a 60-minute symposium. All the projects receiving awards will be on display at a joint stand run by the Swiss Chemical Society and the Universities of Applied Sciences.
The Swiss Chemical Society has been a key partner and patron for ILMAC ever since it was founded. The Society is actively participating in a joint stand, contributing exciting contents to the ILMAC Forum and presenting both the new University of Applied Sciences Award and the Dr. Max Lüthi Award.
With Endress&Hauser as the official Presenting Partner, one of the world's leading suppliers of measuring instruments, services and solutions for industrial process engineering is behind ILMAC. Endress+Hauser has more than 10,000 employees worldwide, with some 4700 of these located in the Basel region.
