The next ILMAC begins on 21 September 2010 in Basel. Over four days the entire range of products and services relating to research, development, production and environmental technology will be on display. ILMAC takes place every three years and is Switzerland’s most important industry exhibition for all manufacturers and suppliers to the pharmaceutical and chemical industries. The interim results are looking positive, as around 300 exhibitors have already registered.

ILMAC is a successful and well-established event which is being staged by MCH Swiss Exhibition for the 18th time. It is the most important industry exhibition for research and development, environmental and process technology in pharmaceuticals, chemicals and biotechnology and will take place from 21 to 27 September 2010 in Hall 1 at Messe Basel. It will be reinforcing its reputation as the most significant industry event in Switzerland and the surrounding regions. With 15,000 visitors and more than 550 exhibitors over an area of 36,000 m2 , ILMAC is the major exhibition in the industry. At ILMAC 2007, 31 percent of visitors came from Switzerland’s neighbouring countries.

Around six months before the exhibition starts, there is already great interest among suppliers. Almost all the leading companies in the industry have already registered to take part. According to some of the best-known firms, ILMAC has a very good reputation and offers high-quality content, as well as excellent opportunities for making contacts with specialist industry visitors and procurement managers.

Basel - the ideal location
With its high concentration of pharmaceutical and chemical companies and its proximity to rapidly developing biotech regions in Switzerland, Germany and France, Basel is the ideal location for ILMAC. Suppliers of equipment, apparatus and machinery for laboratories, analysis, biotechnology, IT, engineering, environmental and process technology will have direct access to customers from the pharmaceutical, chemical, biotechnology, food, drinks, cosmetics and environmental engineering industries. ILMAC is the essential meeting place for decision-makers and influencers from the pharmaceutical and chemical industries.

Opportunities for companies specialising in galenic formulation and packaging
For the first time manufacturers and suppliers which specialise in processing to produce dosage forms and pharmaceutical packaging for shipment have the opportunity to exhibit at ILMAC. Galenic formulation and pharmaceutical packaging form independent areas within the exhibition. These two areas represent the final processes in the production of pharmaceutical products. As a result of their inclusion in ILMAC, the exhibition covers the entire process chain from end to end.

Attractive accompanying and parallel events
Once again in 2010, ILMAC is accompanied by a varied scientific forum which is tailored to the interests of visitors. It will be organised by the Swiss Chemical Society (SCS) and goes under the title “From Nylon to Nanomaterials: Future Trends in Polymers”. There will be presentations covering current research fields and the economic importance of polymers in the chemical and pharmaceutical industries. The forum consists of a two-day scientific conference, a schools day and a careers day for students.

MipTec, the leading annual drug discovery event in Europe, organised by Congrex Schweiz, will be held in parallel with ILMAC and in the same building for the first time this year. The specialist accompanying exhibition with almost 100 suppliers over an area of 800 m² is fully integrated into ILMAC and open to ILMAC visitors at no extra charge. At the same time, the BioValley Life Sciences Week will be taking place, which includes a varied programme of activities. The interaction between these three events will transform Basel into a Mecca for the international life sciences industry during the third week in September.
